READ!!! - I got this bus from a guy named Mark. He was driving it from Oregon to somewhere down South 3 Summers ago. When he reached Bozeman, the bus shutdown while he was driving. He coasted to the side of the road, waited a few minutes, then it started back up and was fine. But, it happened again and again. He stopped at a shop and they put two new batteries in it. Everything was fine unitl they got just outside of Sheridan. It shutdown again. His wife would not let him continue on in the bus, so they rented a U-Haul from me and sold me the bus. I took a look at the bus and discovered the battery cables were very loose and seemed to be the problem. I tightened them up, drove it around town and didn't have any issues. Then Mark called and asked if he could buy the bus back. He flew to Sheridan and drove it away. Well, he got about a half hour away and it started to act up like it had originally. He was worried it would not make it all the way back to Oregon, so he returned to my shop and flew home. Mark no longer wants the bus and asked me to sell it for him.
The Title: Mark bought this bus in Texas a few years ago for around $10,000 (I have the receipts). The seller wrote Mark's name on the title as the Buyer (I have that title in my possession). Mark never transferred the title into his name. Mark lives in Oregon and says they need to have the bus present to do an inspection before they can transfer the title there. Since getting the bus to Oregn is not possible, that is a dead-end. I spoke with the original seller in Texas and he is willing to get a duplicate title for the bus, but he wants $1200 (sales tax and admin fees) to do it. Another solution would be to force a title thru the state as an "abandoned" vehicle. I do not know what that process involves, but I am told it is not very difficult.
Mechanical Issues: I took it to a local shop and had them take a look at. The mechanic said the shutdown/restart issue was likely a bad sensor or loose connection somewhere. Since I don't own the bus, I did not pay to have them fix it. I had been starting the bus, letting it air up and moving it around my parking lot every so often. Last Fall, I tried to start it and batteries went dead. I guess that caused the starter to go out. So, I put a new starter in it but it still won't turn over, click or do anything. I suspect the solenoid is out or possibly a fuse is blown. So that and the original shutting down issue both need to be addressed.
If you can get it to start, figure out the shutdown issue and get it titled... you got yourself a pretty nice bus!
